'2014 Bi-annual Re-enactment of the 1782 Siege of Brimstone Hill'

From Tuesday 4 to Saturday 8 March the ramparts of Brimstone Hill Fortress will be resounding to the sounds of musket and cannon fire (yes, we said cannon fire). The British Brigade, the group of professional re-enactors who staged the first ever re-enactment of the Siege in March 2012 are coming back to thrill locals and visitors alike.

'History & Heritage Hike and Church Service 2014'
The general public is invited to participate in the following History & Heritage activities, upcoming this weekend. Saturday 8th February will be a Hike to Kittitian Hill, registration is open at the National Museum at a cost of  EC $10.00 per person. Participants are required to assemble at the National Museum at 6:30am. Bus transportation will be provided from the Museum Building to Kittitian Hill and departs at 6:45 am. Persons desirous of using their own transportation are still required to check in at the Museum Building to register.

'St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to UNESCO visits Charles Fort'

On Saturday 3rd August 2013 (the Saturday of the Emancipation weekend) Dr. David P. Doyle, Ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to UNESCO, visited Charles Fort, a large coastal fortification located close to the base of Brimstone Hill.  Ambassador Doyle was accompanied on this, his first visit to the site, by Mr. Malcolm Govia, former Senior Attendant at the Hansen Home leper asylum which occupied the fort from the 1890’s to the 1980’s and Mr. Cameron Gill, General Manager of the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society and UNESCO Focal Point for St. Kitts and Nevis.

'Brimstone Hill Emancipation Festival'

Thenford Grey will be providing shuttle service for the Brimstone Hill Emancipation Festival, Sunday 11thAugust 2013. All persons requiring transportation to the top of Brimstone Hill should be at the bottom of the hill, by the top of every hour from 1:00 pm -5:00pm. At the end of the event, the shuttle service will also be provided to take persons to the bottom of the hill.

The Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society (BHFNPS), founded on 10 April 1965, celebrates its 48th birthday with a bang, literally.  Instead of cake, we got something better, our new baby girl and she’s a beauty!  Her name is Betty and she’s a brand new 3 pounder (meaning she fires a three pound cannonball) 18th century reproduction cannon.  Betty’s arrival was long in coming.
